Kung Fu Christmas @ Cinefamily in LA – Season’s Beatings Marathon

Kung Fu Christmas @ Cinefamily in LA – Season’s Beatings Marathon

Cinefamily will be showcasing classic kung-fu movies for almost two weeks with a variety of hits starting Dec. 24, 2015 through Jan 3, 2016.Unfortunately I got the news late, but hopefully you’ll have time to catch some.  There’s a wide variety of stars and features to choose from.

Thurs 12/24 – 10:30pm: Enter the Dragon
Bruce Lee’s Warner Brothers/Golden Harvest co-produced movie – considered a classic
Sat 12/26 –  9:30pm: Jackie Chan Double Feature (Rumble in the Bronx & City Hunter!)
I love RUMBLE IN THE BRONX, though CITY HUNTER leaves MUCH to be desired.  It does have Jackie dressing up as classic Street Fighter 2 characters for some crazy campy action
Sun 12/27 – 7:00pm: Sammo Sunday Double Feature (Pedicab Driver & Blade of Fury!)
Mon 12/28 – 10:00pm: Heroes Shed No Tears
Tues 12/29 – 10:00pm: Dreadnaught
Directed by master Yuen Woo-ping, it’s considered to be one of Yuen Biao’s best movies.  Great fights and acrobatics.  Also features Kwan Tak-Hing reprising his role as the original Wong Fei-Hong
Wed 12/30 – 10:00pm: Sex and Zen
Fri 1/1 – Midnight: FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS: Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind 2
Sammo Hung’s sequel to his original hit, Sammo really knew how to make classic hopping vampire movies!
Sat 1/2 – 10:00pm: Cat 3 Double Feature (Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky & Devil Fetus!)
Sun 1/3 – 10:00pm: The Blade
Tsui Hark’s unofficial remake of THE ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN, but a lot darker
Tues 1/5 – 11:00pm: Zu Warriors of Magic Mountain
Tsui Hark’s crazy wu xia epic with Sammo, Yuen Biao, Bridget Lin and Moon Lee. Though not one of my favorites, it’s definitely out there with fun campy craziness.
Have a Happy Holidays!
